President Hamid Shirvani presented a Presidential Medal during the June 1 Commencement to Professor of Zoology Dr. Pamela Roe who joined the CSU Stanislaus faculty in 1971.
Cited for her outstanding service and dedication to the University by President Shrivani, Roe was the University's Outstanding Professor Award recipient for 2000-01. She is a noted marine biology expert and has done extensive research on deep sea ribbon worms as well as marine invertebrates and ecology topics. One new species of worm that she detected during a study of sea crabs a number of years ago was official named after her: "Cabarincola pamelae."
Dr. Kelvin Jasek-Rysdahl, a Professor of Economics and Co-Director of the Center for Public Policy Studies, was recognized as the winner of the 2006-07 Outstanding Professor Award during the Commencement ceremonies.
