Myriam Cottin-Rack

Violin, Viola, Chamber Music



Violinist Myriam Cottin-Rack has performed in numerous European countries and in North America. A consummate chamber music player, she has appeared as a recitalist and chamber musician at Banff Center for the Arts, Canada, the Aspen Music Festival in Colorado, Château de Champs sur Marne, France, Grand Festival d'Art Slave de Paris, and Schlossweikersheim, Germany. She now regularly appears as a soloist and recitalist in the Central Valley and elsewhere. With a sharp interest in contemporary music, Myriam Cottin-Rack frequently performs new works from contemporary composers. She participated for many years in the Contemporary Music Festival at the College Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, and now often collaborates with the California Composers' Consortium. Ms. Cottin-Rack is also an active orchestra player. She is the associate concertmaster of the Stockton Symphony and the Sacramento Metropolitan Orchestra, assistant principal second violin with the Napa Valley Symphony and a member of the Sacramento Philharmonic.

Ms. Cottin-Rack studied in Lyon and Paris Conservatories in France. She holds a Master of Music in violin performance from the College Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati where she currently is a Doctorate of Musical Arts candidate. Her teachers include Dorothy Delay, Won Bin Yim, Piotr Milewski and William Fitzpatrick. Other influences include Peter Oundjian, James Tocco, members of the Lasalle and the Tokyo String Quartets.

She joined the CSU Stanislaus music faculty in 2005, as a violin and chamber music teacher. She is also adjunct faculty at San Joaquin Delta College where she teaches violin and string ensemble. She was a faculty member at the Preparatory Department of the College Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati. Ms. Cottin-Rack is an active member of the American String Teacher Association and the College Music Society.
