B.S., Business Administration concentrating in Accounting

Sta. Teresa Tanjay City Philippines

I was born and raised for 16 years in the Philippines. The day of my high school graduation was the day I arrived in California. I started going to San Joaquin Delta College and obtained my Associates Degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences and also took transferable classes and prerequisites for California State University, Stanislaus for my Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. My goal is to become a Certified Public Accountant hoping to work in one of the Big 4 Accounting Firms. I am also interested in getting my doctorate degree in accounting so I can teach accounting in community college or university.

Why did you choose CSU Stanislaus?

I chose California State University, Stanislaus because of the peaceful scenery, the tranquility sound of water, and it is also surrounded by nature’s creatures such as ducks, goose, birds, and some cats. I also love the cherry blossoms in spring, cool breeze in summer, the crisp brown leaves in autumn, and the cold dampness in winter. Not only that, the business administration is fully accredited by Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International, which is the highest standard of achievement for business schools worldwide. These are my major reasons why I chose CSU Stanislaus.

What advice would you give a prospective student?

Pick the school of your choice, the location of the school, the beauty of the campus, and especially the faculty and staff. And most importantly, choose a career you want wisely.

What has been your favorite academic or student life experience so far?

My favorite academic or student life experience is meeting new people, learning in school, and participating in events such as Earth Day, Warrior Day, or a simple Wednesday in the Quad with loud music.

What is your career objective?

To pass the extraneous Certified Public Accounting test and work as an executive accountant in a big firm. I also want to pursue a doctorate degree in Accounting.

What clubs, sports, and activities have you participated in?

I joined the Faculty Mentor Program. It is a program where every student or protégé has a faculty mentor that helps and advices about school, student life, and career. It is a one-on-one help until you successfully graduate and can possibly be a lifetime mentor. It is a fun program and it helped me to be socially connected.

Who is your most influential personal and/or University mentor?

There are too many people to mention but the first person who comes to mind is my Mother. Since I was in Kindergarten, she made me love education, and that learning is a never-ending experience.
