Accessible Technology Initiative

Web Accessibility

The Web Accessibility component of ATI requires that all campus administrative web sites conform to Section 508 of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Administrative web sites include administrative units such as Business & Finance, as well as colleges, departments, and programs.

Resources to Create Accessible Websites and Digital Content

The Chancellor’s Office provides many how-to guides and resources for creating ac- cessible web content, and Web Accessibility Frequently Asked Questions.

Digital Content

Digital content is any document, presentation, video, or other multimedia posted on a website. Digital content must conform to accessibility guidelines.

Tutorials for creating accessible Word, PowerPoint, or PDF documents are posted on the CSU’s Professional Development for Accessible Technology website.

Exemptions and Equally Effective Alternative Plans

When web content cannot be provided in an accessible manner, an equally effective alternative must be provided and an exception granted. For questions about equally effective alternative documents or applications, please contact the Accessible Technology Coordinator.
