BioLife :: Biotechnology at CSU Stanislaus

Biotechnology is the application of technology to biological systems and living organisms. It generally refers to the techniques, tools, and procedures for modifying living organisms for human purposes in engineering, agriculture, science, technology, and medicine.


It makes discoveries arrive faster.

CSU Stanislaus faculty and student researchers have had the opportunity to work on various biotechnology projects in conjunction with companies such as E.&J. Gallo Winery, Hilmar Cheese Co. , Salida Wastewater, and California Animal Health and Food Safety. These researchers also collaborate with colleagues at other higher education institutions like UC Davis, UC San Francisco, and CSU Sacramento, to name a few.

A recent study conducted by Thompson Reuters and the Biotechnology Industry Organization found that 64 percent of participants state that now is a “good” or “very good” time to invest in biotech.
